Nun sind wir seit über zwei Wochen in Polen! Und mittlerweile fühlen wir uns auch wohl. Auch wenn der erste Eindruck unseres Wohnhauses eher abschreckend war. Der Hinterhof grau, die Scheibe in der Haustüre eingeschlagen, das Treppenhaus heruntergekommen. Das ganze Haus ist von einem Zaun umgeben und auch unsere Wohnungstüre hat zwei Schlösser. Da fragt man sich schon, hat das alles einen Grund oder warum verschanzen die Polen ihre Wohnungen so? 😄
Unsere Wohnung selbst war aber eine schöne Überraschung! Total gemütlich und liebevoll eingerichtet. Da kann man erst einmal bleiben...
Übrigens wissen wir immer noch nicht, was die zwei Schlösser an der Wohnung sollen. Das haben hier alle Wohnungstüren. Ehrlich gesagt fühle ich mich hier recht sicher.
Unsere Wohnung liegt sehr zentral, zwei Schritte raus und wir sind mitten im Geschehen. Stettin hat 400.000 Einwohner und die Straßen sind immer belebt. Ich war erstaunt, dass Stettin den deutschen Städten ähnelt. Auch wenn die Arbeiter hier im Schnitt 2000 Zloty verdienen, was etwa 400 € sind, sind die Preise in den Einkaufszentren genauso teuer wie in Deutschland. Da frage ich mich schon, wie sich die Menschen das leisten können in den typischen Malls? Man findet auch die gleichen Läden wie in Deutschland. Direkt bei uns gibt es sogar einen Tchibo und einen Rossmann, in denen so einige Artikel original auf deutsch sind (da freu ich mich immer, weil ich nicht erst mal alles übersetzen muss). Doch die Lebensmittel sind unseres Erachtens um einiges günstiger. Da passen sich die Preise auch dem Verdienst eher an.
Im großen ganzen ist Stettin recht schön und überschaubar. Es gibt alles an Läden was man braucht und auch kulturelle Angebote gibt es einige. Der Haken ist halt, dass wir kein polnisch können 😁

We have been in Poland for over two weeks and we are starting to feel comfortable in our new home! To be honest, the first impression of our house was pretty bad: The court behind the house was pretty dark, the window of the front door was broken and the staircase was pretty run-down. The whole block is surrounded by a iron fence and the door of our appartment has two big locks. That's the point when you ask yourself, is there a reason for that or why do the Polish put TWO big locks on their doors?
But our appartment was a nice surprise! It's really cozy and nicely furnished! So we decided we can stay 😉
Btw we still don't know what's the point about the two locks. All appartment doors have these... Actually I feel safe aroung here...
The location of our appartment is pretty neat, we go out and we are right in the city centre. Stettin has 400,000 inhabitants and the streets are pretty crowded. I was surprise that the city is similiar to the German cities. But there was one thing that I was confused about. Polish workers earn around 2000 Zloty which is $555, so not really much. But the prices in the mall are as expensive as in Germany. So I don't know how they afford their shopping... Only groceries are a lot cheaper I think.
They even have German stores in the mall. So I get excited whenever I find german products on which I can understand the label.
So far, Stettin is nice and not too big. There are all kinds of stores that you need and there's even a lot of cultural program. The only problem is we don't speak Polish 😁
